about
The final installment in the 40k trilogy. A sergeant is tasked with destroying his home planet and all that he loves for the greater good. Would you have the strength to kill them all?
lyrics
On my home world of Cyrene,
The eye of chaos spilled its seed,
Infecting all within its path,
Spewing forth bloody wrath,
Tumbling spires to the ground,
The smell of death all around,
The taint of chaos is strong,
It will swallow them all.
I’ve seen the future and its dark,
My home world torn apart,
Ravaged by famine and disease,
Exterminatus, set them free!
The Emperor is on our side,
And still though millions will die,
We shall not suffer their existence,
I want none left alive
I’m wide awake with these dreams of hate,
With every man, woman, and child they take,
Another mutant is born enslaved,
Infected, insane, their minds erased
In this unholy ceremony – the heresy grows,
Respect the power fear the threat,
There is so much pain,
If you’re afraid to feel you feel you’re lost,
But once you fall you never forget it,
At what price comes peace?
Could this be my home?
Could this be my land?
My family and friends,
Overrun by the damned
The horrors they’ve seen are second to none,
Only death can save them this blasphemy done,
A prayer is said in the emperor’s name,
The blood is the life as it flows in these veins
This is black, this is white,
But what is wrong? What is right?
It’s not that easy to say,
What is evil at the end of the day
Do you have the strength, do you have what it takes?
To kill them all…
Stand back as we purge the unclean,
You cannot stop this war machine,
The throne of chaos threatens all,
I raise my blade and demons fall,
Cannons fire engine churn,
Flamers light heretics burn
The final phase has now begun,
The emperor’s heel charges their guns,
Unleashing a fury of death’s design,
Hell unearthed, none left alive
I’m wide awake with the dreams of hate,
With every man, woman and child they take,
Another victim is born enslaved,
Infected, insane, their minds erased
The emperor is on our side,
Though millions will die,
End their existence,
I want none left alive
As I pulled the dead from the pool,
I thought about what I’d done,
The horrors committed in his name,
The pain and suffering of everyone,
And as I buried them one by one,
I thought about what I’d done,
As I buried them one by one,
I thought about what I’d become
The emperor is on our side,
Though millions will die,
End their existence,
I want more left alive
I never cared about symphonic metal at all. I do very much care about folk as well as progressive metal, and so I couldn't resist after reading the third exceptional AMG review for Wilderun in a row. 'Sleep...' has been on my radar for quite some time, being graced by one of the most beckoning cover arts I have ever seen. The band more than lives up to its reputation, composing great musical pieces from start to finish. I absolutely love the multitude of influences being put together here. David Fischer
This checks pretty much all the boxes of my blackened dm achilles heel preferences - progressive playing alongside compositional complexity; almost mythological lyrics with a doomy undercurrent of emotional urgency. It's almost like a siren song to my progressive metal dna. And I will take that ending solo in "Sold as a Crow" any day of the week. I was going to make an Intronaut comparison but wait - this is from 2014?! Shit! bcb723
